"In Sorrow's Requiem" is the title of the new album from Italian Gothic-Doomsters MOTUS TENEBRAE, due out on May 8, 2026, via My Kingdom Music, which has renewed his trust in them with a new contract.
Just 10 years after their last album, "Deathrising", MOTUS TENEBRAE return to make their voices heard in the most powerful and full of pathos way possible with a new album rich in nuance and unique atmospheres, bringing to life their most mature and decadent work of their twenty-five-year career.
With "In Sorrow's Requiem", MOTUS TENEBRAE rise again, stronger, darker and deeper than ever!
Three vision... One sound. Embrace the unknown!
Here in Motus Tenebrae, we're currently immersed in the creation of our as-yet-untitled (soon revealed) new full-length album, which we're aiming to release in 2025. Following the reception of our previous album, Deathrising (2016), we're pushing ourselves to forge an even more profound and haunting sonic landscape for you all.
As you know, we're known for our melancholic melodies, crushing riffs, and lyrics that delve into the depths. With this new record, we promise to take you even further into themes of darkness and void. You can expect that signature blend of heavy, slow tempos and ethereal atmospheres that defines our sound, but we're also amplifying it with new layers of sonic exploration.
One element we're particularly excited about on this new record is our exploration of darker vocal harmonies. We've layered our voices in ways that we feel truly amplify the sorrowful and haunting nature of the music, creating a more immersive and unsettling experience.
"This album feels like our most personal and intense work to date. We are channeling emotions and experiences into something truly heavy and beautiful." - [Luigi]
Keep an eye out for more updates on the album title, release date, artwork, and potential tour dates in the coming months. Prepare to descend further into the shadows with Motus Tenebrae in 2026.
The dark Tuscan combo was born in Pisa in July 2001, under the will of bassist Andrea Das Cox and singer-guitarist Luis McFadden, historical members who are still part of the line-up. In April 2002 they released their first EP “Beyond”.
In 2005 they released their first full length “Wayside”, the album attracted the attention of New LM Records, who offered the band an important contract. At the same time they began to compose material for the new album “Soul Expression” which was released in October 2007 with the entry of Anton Chaney on drums (Death SS, Rhumornero, Tossic).
With the new album Motus Tenebrae deservedly earned the title of one of the best gothic doom metal bands in the Italian music scene. In 2009 the concept album “The Synthetic Bliss” was released. In 2012, Luis McFadden left the band and was replaced by Valerio Voliani (Diesanera) and on 12/12/2012 Revalve Records released the album Double Black. In 2014 the frontman Luis returned on a permanent basis and saw the entry of Andrea Falaschi (Deathless Legacy) behind the drums.
In the meantime a new contract was signed with My Kingdom Music and on January 25, 2016 the album “Deathrising” was released. After a long break, the band is ready to share its stylistic and musical evolution, and the release of a new long-awaited album is scheduled for 2025.
